CANCER DIAGNOSIS AFTER TV CHECK

LOVE Island star Chris Hughes has revealed his brother has testicular cancer.

The 26-year-old raised awareness for the disease two months ago when he was checked for it live on ITV’s This Morning.

Chris was praised for the brave move and for trying to show men there was nothing to be embarrassed about stripping for a test.

And the telly moment prompted his brother Ben to check for lumps himself.

In an emotional Instagram post, Chris yesterday revealed the news that his sibling has cancer.

He posted a picture of them both as youngsters, adding: “Sad day.”

Heartbroken Chris wrote: “He came into my room at 3am the morning after my testicular examination on TV, clearly struggling to sleep, telling me he’d found a lump and asked me if he’s checking it right.

“To which I told him: ‘Ben, it’s 3am, I’ll look in the morning, but if there’s a lump, go and get it checked tomorrow with the doctor.’

“He sent me a message thanking me for making him aware, else he’d never have known he had cancer. That literally broke my heart.

“Testicular cancer is a silent killer, men need to realise this and check themselves regularly.

“It takes 10 seconds. Please do it.” On This Morning Chris revealed that his cousin had testicular cancer and that both of his brothers were infertile.

But he did not get examined until he was 20, saying: “Because it doesn’t come with a lot of pain it’s easy to neglect.”

He went into the villa in 2017 for the third series of Love Island, where he paired up with Olivia Attwood, 27. They ended up in third place and split in March last year.
