Countdown star’s seven letters for ex-MP Galloway
COUNTDOWN star Rachel Riley told George Galloway to “f*** off” in a spat over anti-Semitism in the Labour Party.
The 32-year-old posted the angry Twitter message to the Scots politician after he took a swipe at her.
Rachel has been abused for criticising Jeremy Corbyn over claims of anti-Semitism in his party.
And she praised Countdown co-host Nick Hewer for ditching the left-wing party despite being a Labour supporter for 50 years.
Nick tweeted: “I am astonished at the blunt assaults and trickster arguments fired at my friend and colleague Rachel Riley for calling out anti-Semitism in that once great Labour party which I have voted for since 1964. Not any more.”
Rachel replied said: “Thanks to Nick Hewer and everyone
BLAST: George Galloway else standing shoulder to shoulder with me and so many others, against bullying, and against anti-Semitism. It’s so very much appreciated.”
And comedian Stephen Fry tweeted: “I stand with you, Rachel x”
But former Labour MP George Galloway – a vocal supporter of Palestine – was not happy.
He wrote: “Dumbfounding. She calls Chomsky an antiSemite and slanders half the Labour Party as the same. 1980s left-wing comedy icon and all-round gent Stephen Fry backs her!”
American activist Noam Chomsky was accused of defending Holocaust deniers.
Rachel blasted the former Celebrity Big Brother contestant by writing: “F *** off George Galloway.
She said: “Today is not the day I’m going to be polite to anti-Semite scum – to be explicit George Galloway.”
She received support from I’m A Celeb star and The Chase brainbox Anne Hegerty.
Anne said: “Never be polite to George Galloway. There’s just never a good reason.”
Galloway hit back at Stephen: “To be clear, are you ‘standing by’ Rachel Riley as an arithmetician or because you too consider Noam Chomsky to be an anti-Semite?”
Stephen is Jewish, and members of his family were killed in the Holocaust.
