Fury at festival

LONDON mayor Sadiq Khan has been slammed for spending £2million on a culture festival just yards from where a schoolboy was stabbed to death.

Jaden Moodie, 14, was killed last week in the vicious attack in Waltham Forest, north east London.

It came as police are begging for more funding to fight crime.

The culture festival cost more than four times the £500,000 pledged to a violence reduction unit last year. Ex-Met Police superintendent and gang outreach worker Leroy Logan said the timing of the festival “couldn’t be worse”.

Mr Khan’s spokesman said the event was “a crucial part” of “tackling the root causes of violent crime”.
