Millions put off kids & homes
BRITS in their 30s and 40s do not want to settle down.
Millions are turning their backs on home ownership, getting married and having kids.
A frivolous 82% are more interested in “having fun” and indulging in “amazing life experiences”, a poll found.
Rather than jumping on the housing ladder as soon as possible, like their parents did, the majority said it was not a priority for them.
In fact, 66% said they would rather spend cash on “life experiences” than buying a house.
The study by adventure holiday firm Flash Pack found that 82% did not want to take on any major responsibilities and “consciously delayed old-fashioned life goals”.
A spokesman said: “Today’s 30-40-something Brits are tearing up the rule book, adopting a way of life previously enjoyed by older ‘empty nesters’ – footloose and child-free with enough disposable income to go where the wind takes them.
“Forget the 2.4 children and house with the picket fence that their parents aspired to.”
