Rover & out
THIS is the last selfie taken by NASA’s longest running Mars rover machine.
The Opportunity device was declared dead this week after eight months without contact.
A self portrait was taken by a camera on the end of one of the rover’s robotic arms.
Other images showed the landscape of the Red Planet and the rover’s tracks. The six-wheeled vehicle was built to operate for just three months but kept going for an astonishing 15 years.
It was finally doomed by a ferocious dust storm in June last year.
And now it has officially been written off for good.
