Kids need some fun

- COURTNEY LOVE:

She must not be allowed back. IT wasn’t that long ago that youngsters would do anything to stay out late.

Getting hammered for the first time and staying out till 3am was a rite of passage.

And night-owls would queue up for part-time jobs in late-night bars. It was the place to be and all part of growing up.

But things have dramatically changed. Pampered kids these days would rather get an early night with a cup of cocoa.

A good night out is now a session down the gym.

They want to be careful. There is plenty of time later in life for sofas, slippers and salads.

Youngsters need to act like youngsters when they are still young.

Otherwise before they know it their partying days will be over before they have started.

KEITH RICHARDS: The Rolling Stones guitarist is legendary for his drug use. A former heroin addict, he only stopped using cocaine at 63 when he fell out of a tree and needed brain surgery. Now, at 75, he is still touring. He’s given up hard drink, but still quaffs wine and beer, while he struggles to quit the fags.

SHANE MACGOWAN: The Pogues frontman has shocked everyone by making the age of 61. As well as his epic binge drinking, Shane was also addicted to heroin. Once given six weeks to live, he has lost all his natural teeth but insists: “Smoking, drinking, partying – that’s why I’ve stayed alive as long as I have.”

IGGY POP: The godfather of punk was once so high on heroin that he couldn’t stand up on stage. But he eventually gave up drugs and, at

71, is now more likely to be found sipping a herbal tea.

NIKKI SIXX: The Motley Crue bassist overdosed on heroin six times. In 1987 he “died” for two minutes after injecting the drug. The 60-yearold has admitted: “I had a hangover for pretty much 15 years.” He sobered up and was touring until recently.

The former stripper, 54, was married to Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain, who committed suicide in 1994. She has battled addictions to everything from prescription drugs to crack cocaine and allegedly overdosed in 2003.

ALICE COOPER: The shock rocker, now 71, partied hard in the 1970s with such legends as Doors star Jim Morrison and The Who’s Keith Moon – who both died young. Cooper downed a bottle of whisky a day but went teetotal in the 1980s after being given two weeks to live.

STEVEN TYLER: The Aerosmith singer admitted: “I was a humongous to-die-for drug addict.” He nearly died “three or four times”. Tyler, now 70, was also hooked on booze and despite going to rehab has had relapses. In 2009, after falling off stage, he admitted an addiction to painkillers.

BOB DYLAN: The Blowin’ In The Wind singer admitted smoking 100 cigs a day and fought heroin addiction in the 1960s. He was nearly killed in a motorbike accident in 1966 and narrowly escaped death in 1997 after suffering a heart infection. Incredibly, the 77-year-old is still out on the road.
