WE GOT TOT & £1M LOTT

Natalie wins lotto – then gives birth

- By JERRY LAWTON jerry.lawton@dailystar.co.uk

A MUM-TO-BE who won a £1million lottery jackpot went into labour the next day as she shopped for a new house.

Natalie Metcalf, 37, was singing “we’re rich, we’re rich” after selling an old pram as fiancé Andrew Symes checked their Euro Millions ticket.

When he realised they had matched the winning numbers, he told his pregnant partner: “Yes, you are!’’

The stunned couple phoned lotto organiser Camelot – then went shopping to buy a first home.

While they were looking at properties, Natalie went into labour.

The pair put their celebrations on ice for baby Poppy’s arrival.

They were yesterday finally able to toast their success at a champagne bash.

The couple – who also have a two-year-old son – plan to splash out on a new home and dream wedding.

Pensions worker Andrew, 40, said: “This win couldn’t have come at a better time.

“Now we can get married and buy a perfect house to raise our children. As well as feeling happy about the safe arrival of our baby girl, we just feel so relaxed.

“We’ll be able to buy a home and not even have to worry about a mortgage.’’

The couple, from Thornbury, Glos, scooped the jackpot in the Euro Millions Millionaire Maker prize draw on February 1. But as soon as Natalie’s labour pains began, they forgot about their fortune to concentrate on the new arrival.

“We were totally focused on making sure that Natalie and the baby were OK,’’ said Andrew, who bought the ticket in his local Tesco.

Natalie added: “We had always joked that the only way we could ever afford to buy our own home was if we won the lottery.

“We didn’t know that would prove to be true.

“As well as the house, we are also going to start planning our wedding.

“We’ve been engaged for over two years but now we can afford to have the wedding of our dreams.’’

EVERYONE dreams of winning the lottery.

But Andrew Symes and Natalie Metcalf have hit the jackpot twice.

They scooped £1million – and then had a baby the next day.

It’s a proper feelgood story.

They are our kind of people. They have worked hard but feared they would never be able to afford a home of their own. Now the couple can live a life of luxury the rest of us can only dream of.

And good on them.

They plan to splash out on their dream wedding and family home.

It’s great to see the lottery millions going to people who deserve a bit of luck.

Enjoy!
