Saudis’ snub to son of Osama

-

SAUDI Arabia last night stripped Osama bin Laden’s son of his citizenship.

It came after the US said he was “emerging as leader” of al-Qaida and put a £750,000 bounty on his head.

The State Department said Hamza bin Laden was seeking “revenge” for the killing of his father in a

2011 raid by American special forces.

Hamza is said to have released audio and video messages calling on his followers to launch attacks on the US and its allies.

While al-Qaida has been eclipsed by Islamic State in recent years, intelligence agents still believe it poses a threat.

The group carried out the September 11 attacks in

2001 and issued a declaration of war against the US, which still stands.

Hamza is thought to be aged about 30 and is believed to be in hiding on the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

In 2015 he was designated a “global terrorist” by the US which then imposed banking sanctions on him and froze his assets, but little has been heard of him until now.
