Murder boast teen is caged

-

A TEENAGE killer boasted “I’ve done an M” after stabbing a man to death.

Leary Dalton-Byrne was arrested when his confession was filmed and circulated on social media.

The “M” stood for murder. He has now been given a life sentence with a minimum of 17 years after being convicted of murder.

The 18-year-old stabbed 45-year-old grandad Dean Ward in an unprovoked attack last June.

Dalton-Byrne asked Mr Ward for a cigarette and knifed him several times in the legs when he said he did not smoke.

The victim died a week after the attack took place in Finchley Park, Birmingham.

Passing sentence at Birmingham Crown Court, Judge Paul Farrer QC said: “After the stabbing, you showed no remorse whatsoever. Instead you made your way to the home of a friend.

“He noticed that you had cuts to your fingers on your right hand and asked what you’d done.

“You boasted that you had just ‘done an M’. Although you sought to persuade the jury that was a reference to ecstasy, it was obviously a reference to the murder you had just carried out.”

After sentencing Detective Chief Inspector Peter Dunn, who led the investigation, said: “Although nothing will bring Dean back, we hope this sentence brings some closure to his family.”
