Drill rap gang in mission of terror

-

A GANG of drill rappers including a gunman in a clown mask were caught in a car packed with weapons, a court heard.

The thugs were on a mission to hunt down rivals when they were involved in a police shoot-out.

Lekan Akinsoji, 20, Darnell Joseph-Newill, 21, Nathaniel Lewis, 23, and Troy Ifill, 22, made drill videos bragging about killing their rivals.

The four were “tooled up” with a sawn-off shotgun, a Zombie knife and a pickaxe as they drove through “enemy” territory.

They were spotted by an armed police patrol who pursued them on a milelong chase in Leytonstone, east London.

Akinsoji, wearing a white clown mask, had taken aim with the shotgun during the pursuit. One officer pulled out his Glock and fired four shots through the BMW’s windscreen.

His colleagues also fired their weapons but the shoot-out was only ended when the car was blocked by an oncoming vehicle after turning the wrong way down a one-way street.

All four denied possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and conspiring to cause GBH but were unanimously convicted by a jury at the Old Bailey.

Akinsoji, of Dagenham, Lewis, of Forest Gate, and Joseph-Newill and Ifill, both from Stratford, were each jailed for 23 years.

Judge Mark Dennis QC told the east London gang they had planned an attack “late at night in public streets”.

He said: “This was planned and organised violence.”
