Origi winner moment-ous

JURGEN KLOPP revealed Divock Origi’s dramatic derby winner set Liverpool up for their Premier League title challenge.

The Kop boss claims the Belgian’s stoppage time goal against Everton in December gave the Reds the momentum needed to challenge champions Manchester City. Substitute Origi tapped home in the sixth added minute after a howler from Toffees keeper Jordan Pickford. The win kept Liverpool two points behind City but they are now one point in front of Pep Guardiola’s side. “Goals can change a season I am not sure, but the moment for sure,” said Klopp. “It changed the mood, the confidence. It was a very important one, 100 per cent. “That day and the games afterwards, it was unbelievable what the boys did. “It created all our situations. December changed a lot. That was very, very important.” Liverpool won seven of their next eight league games with their only slip-up coming against

City. But they have drawn three of their last five games, with Everton next up looking to put a dent in their title hopes.

There is also the small matter that the Toffees are desperate for their first win over Liverpool since October 2010.

Klopp added: “I had my derby when I was 10 years old and played against the village next to us.

“We went to the same school and the next bus. You want to win that game so desperately.

“That’s sport. I understand that but I don’t live that.

“In the games, I know that we are the ones who have to do it for the people.

“They cannot win in the office, this game. We have to do it on the pitch.

“We all understand it 100 per cent.”
