Bowen all lined up to show Who’s the boss

- MARK PEARSON

TODAY’S fund starts at £60,642 with the bonus standing at £73,571 and both sums set to increase as punters get stuck in.

There are two races from Doncaster and the remaining four from another excellent card at Newbury.

First up is Doncaster’s 1.50, a three-mile handicap hurdle. Jersey Bean heads the weights and might just be in the handicapper’s grip for the moment but could appreciate the return to better ground.

Who’s My Jockey, for the Rooneys, is the selection however. Red-hot Sean Bowen is in the plate for the first time.

Newbury’s 2.05 can go to Grand National entry Abolitionist. Dr Richard Newland has a lovely touch with these veteran chasers, and Sam TwistonDavies has a great record.

The Greatwood Gold Cup is third and the booking of Barry

Geraghty for Fergal O’Brien’s Master Dee catches the eye plus the ten-year-old has had a wind op.

Next is Newbury’s 3.10 and Falcon Sun chases a three-timer for the Skeltons.

He’s creeping up the weights though, and preference is for Tom George’s Champagne City. Two decent runs in hot handicaps could have brought him nicely to the boil. In Doncaster’s 3.35, Aidan Coleman has been secured to ride course winner Looking Well by trainer Nicky Richards.

Finally at Newbury, I’m drawn to handicap debutant Tegerek, trained by Jonjo O’Neill and ridden by his talented son Jonjo Jr.
