ANGRY viewers pledged to boycott tomorrow night’s women-only episode of Emmerdale.

The soap will feature an allfemale cast and crew to mark International Women’s Day.

All the male actors on the ITV show were given the day off.

Telly bosses have hailed it a “celebration of women” but the move has sparked outrage.

Piers Morgan, who hosts Good Morning Britain on the same channel, said he now planned to start a campaign for a “male-only Coronation Street” in response.

He added: “Women need men as much as men need women.

“Try and explain to me why this isn’t just a load of old virtue signalling, PC-crazed poppycock.’

“This is not about equality. This is about annoying men by saying, ‘We can do all this without you.’”

Regular viewers also hit out at the soap online, with one writing: “Watch Emmerdale all the time but I won’t be watching the allfemale one. How stupid and sexist.

‘‘I hate women who see themselves as victims.”

Another wrote: “I am not sure I can cope anymore!

“People are sheep & just being brainwashed!”

Producer Kate Brooks said: “We wanted the episode to be characterdriven and story led, exploring all aspects of what it’s like to be a woman in 2019.”
