RAK-SU ‘STAYING TRUE’

-

X FACTOR winners RakSu have slammed bands for “adapting” their sound to chase chart success.

The guys, who’ve just released 90s-inspired EP Rome, insisted they’d rather stand out from the crowd.

Since winning the show in 2017, the guys have failed to set the charts alight like some expected, but they’ve built up an incredibly loyal fanbase which is what they say is more important.

Ashley Fongho told me: “We are so happy to be doing what we love and to have such huge support.

“We don’t think about charting or riding a trend at all. I’d love to say we are geniuses but we just write the music we love.

“We’ve grown a lot since then [X Factor] and although we look back at all our songs really fondly, I’d like to think we’ve bettered ourselves.”

Jamaal Shurland added they’re proud to be staying true to the music they all love.

“We’ve always been into old school R&B. It’s a really big influence.

“All our preferences are slightly different, so it’s all our influences that have created us.”

Last night the boys released the music video for latest single Stick Around and it showcases their signature dance moves.

Ashley gushed: “We are all about the right kind of energy.”

The lads haven’t let fame get to their heads and thank their girlfriends for keeping them grounded.

Myles Stephenson is dating Love Island’s Gabby Allen and insisted: “We’re normal.” Jamaal added: “My relationship keeps me grounded.”
