BUNGLING COPS LET MY CLAUDIA DOWN
Mum tells of night ‘terrors’
DAILY STAR, Monday, March 18, 2019 THE mum of missing chef Claudia Lawrence blames detectives for “mistake after mistake” in the 10-year hunt for her daughter’s killer.
Joan Lawrence, 75, says she feels “catastrophically failed” by North Yorkshire Police
She is demanding a public apology from retired Supt Ray Galloway, who was first put in charge of the hunt for her missing daughter, last seen in
York 10 years ago today.
Joan said: “I was promised everything was being done to find Claudia, but instead one catastrophic mistake was made after another.
“The ultimate consequences are that even now I am still woken in the dead of night, haunted by images of what could have happened to her. Because I don’t have 23 answers, I wake up, frozen with terror as my mind plays tricks on me.
“Will I ever know? I’m so scared that I will go to my grave and not have the answers I so desperately need.” Explaining why she feels so hurt by Galloway, Joan said: “He only came to see me once, for 15 minutes, in the whole four years he was supposed to be searching for Claudia. He never once said how sorry he was for what we were going through. “Instead he cold-heartedly painted a very dark picture of my beautiful daughter.” Mr Galloway, who now runs a private investigations business, said: “I don’t really want to respond to this, but I will say that Mrs Lawrence has been critical of the police investigation in the past.”
