SWANSEA .... 2 MAN CITY .... 3

-

BERNARDO SILVA insists Manchester City can write another “special” chapter in their history after their stunning FA Cup comeback.

Pep Guardiola’s side are now just two wins away from lifting the FA Cup and remain on course for an unprecedented quadruple.

After last season’s record-breaking Premier League triumph, it was hard to see Guardiola’s side topping that epic achievement.

But Bernardo reckons City can surpass that feat this season.

“I think all the players feel that this season can be special,” said Bernardo, whose goal sparked City’s comeback from 2-0 down against Championship Swansea.

“Last season was special in the way we won the Premier League, but this season can be special because we’ve already won one competition and we’re still playing for three.

“We know the last month and a half will be very tough, it will be crucial to make something special and to try to write an important page in the history of this club, which is what we’ll try to do.

“We could have been out after arriving at half-time losing 2-0. So we have to keep our focus, knowing that our opponents are very strong.

“In the semi-finals of the FA Cup it’s one game, anything can happen against very strong opponents.

“The Champions League is the most difficult competition in Europe.

“The Premier League is very tight this season, with Liverpool in a great momentum as well, so no competition will be easy.

“Our opponents have made it very complicated for us to win trophies this season, but I think we’ve been doing quite well and we’ll try to keep the momentum.

“It’s very important to win these kinds of games as well. Not only the games you win four or five-nil, but these games where you have to show your character.”

Bernardo acknowledged that if City are to prevail in all four competitions they will have to improve their focus, which they lost in conceding twice in quick succession to Swansea.

A brainless foul from Fabian Delph allowed the hosts to take the lead from the penalty spot.

Then a sublime move, which Guardiola would have been proud of, finished off by former City forward Bersant Celina put Swansea 2-0 up.

It took an epic fightback, and some fortuitous decisions from the officials, for City to come from behind.

Bernard’s thunderous effort got the ball rolling. Cameron CarterVickers was then judged to have tripped sub Raheem Sterling and fellow sub Sergio Aguero saw his penalty hit the post before rebounding in off Kristoffer Nordfeldt.

Aguero’s diving header completed the turnaround two minutes from time, although replays showed the striker was offside.

And if City repeat their first-half loss of focus in the Premier League run-in and the Champions League quarter-final against Tottenham, they may well see their hopes of a four-trophy haul evaporate.

“There are no perfect teams, so we try to improve,” said Bernardo. “We know that in some moments we’re not as good as some teams.

“We cannot be perfect in all moments. I think so far this season, to still be in the four competitions – three left, because one we’ve won – it’s pretty good. It means we’ve been doing a pretty good job but we still have to improve a few things.”
