MY brother’s girlfriend is beginning to look like my clone.

They’ve only been together a few months but she already has exactly the same hairstyle as me. She’s copied my clothes, my shoes and my jewellery too.

I’m not amused. This is embarrassing.

Every time we go out in a group we look like twins.

My brother is obsessed with her, but the woman is a human sponge.

She sits next to me and sucks up my every utterance.

Now she wants me to be a bridesmaid with her at her sister’s wedding.

I’ve never even met her sister, yet my brother thinks it’s marvellous that she and I are “so close”.

I feel as though I’ve been taken hostage. JANE SAYS: You can’t allow yourself to be overwhelmed simply because your brother is so loved-up.

I suspect he also thinks you’re fabulous and she’s so desperate to please and impress him she’s trying to copy you in every way.

Why don’t you meet her on her own and gently explain that being a bridesmaid isn’t really your thing?

I’m sure she’ll calm down once she feels more secure with your brother. Meanwhile, concentrate on being yourself.

It’s possible this lady lacks self-worth and thinks you’re incredible, but it’s not your job to make her feel better about herself. There’s no need to make an enemy of her, but do stand your ground.
