AT LAST! A WARM FRONT IS ON WAY

‘Tropical’ UK could top 20C

BRITAIN is set to bask in 20C heat as spring bursts into life today – thanks to a warm front.

Forecasters reckon parts of the country will enjoy warmer weather after recent storms. Eastern Britain will enjoy the best of the conditions with high temperatures possible in London, East Anglia and Lincolnshire. The weather will feel much more pleasant with the strong winds that battered the UK for days, along with torrential rain and snow in the north, having finally relented.

An Atlantic weather front is causing temperatures to soar by bringing in warmer air – despite frosts earlier this week.

Meteorologist Greg Dewhurst said: “High pressure will be in charge for the rest of the week although weather systems will skirt across northern parts of the UK bringing fresher conditions.

“Temperatures will rise through the week as tropical maritime air comes into the UK from the Azores.

“It looks like high pressure will dominate this weekend and into next week and it will stay dry through the rest of March although windy in the north-west.”

Today is officially the first day of spring and Britain’s weather conditions are expected to reflect that.

It follows a turbulent few weeks with extreme weather causing a “winter heatwave” prior to Storm Gareth’s 75mph winds striking last week.

Met Office forecaster Bonnie Diamond said: “It will be much more settled, becoming milder and much warmer in some places.”
