All made up, court hears

PETER Dinklage is all smiles ahead of the last ever episode of Game Of Thrones. The 4ft 5in star was spotted with his daughter out and about in New York. A SEX fantasist swindled £22,000 in compensation after lying he was raped, tortured and abused by celebs he claimed were pals of Jimmy Savile, a court heard.

Carl Beech, 51, bought a white Ford Mustang convertible after claiming a 12-strong VIP sex ring – including Savile, former Prime Minister

Edward Heath, ex-Home Secretary Leon Brittan, MPs Harvey Proctor and Greville Janner and former heads of the Army, MI5 and MI6 – murdered three boys in front of him.

He told police he saw Mr Proctor tie a youngster to a table and rape him before stabbing him to death.

Beech said he had “held the boy’s hand and begged him to wake up – but he didn’t” .

One of his school pals was deliberately run over and killed, he claimed.

He alleged he saw a third boy murdered by Mr Proctor, Mr Brittan and former MI5 chief Michael Hanley. Beech handed detectives a penknife with which he said Mr Proctor had threatened to cut his genitals unless he performed a sex act on him.

The Metropolitan Police set up Operation Midland to investigate his claims which one officer described as “credible and true”.

The two-year probe cost taxpayers £2million before it was axed without anyone being charged.

Alleged culprits who were still ■

alive had their homes raided and were subjected to hours of police questioning, causing them “immeasurable distress” and “obvious reputational damage”, Tony Baddenoch, prosecuting, told Newcastle Crown Court. The accuser also gave “false hope” to the brother of Martin Allen – who vanished in London in 1979, aged 15 – that he would finally discover his sibling’s fate.

Beech claimed the youngster had been murdered by Mr Proctor.

While the VIPs he accused were publicly exposed Beech – as an alleged victim – was entitled to anonymity and hid behind the pseudonym ‘Nick.’

In 2013, he successfully applied for criminal injuries compensation.

But Met detectives found no evidence to back up his claims, all those he had accused were cleared and police apologised publicly to Lord Brittan’s widow.

Unbeknown to Beech, Northumbria Police were then brought in to investigate him. Quizzed about his alleged lies he “made no response” and fled to Sweden, where he lived as a fugitive before being eventually detained and extradited back to Britain to stand trial.

Beech is accused of lying about “three child murders, multiple rapes, kidnapping, false imprisonment and widespread sexual abuse”. The trial continues.
