Wild web warning

SOCIAL media sites have been warned to clamp down on the “Wild West” nature of trolls and insults.

Jackie Doyle-Price made the call to firms including Facebook, Google and Twitter in her role as the UK’s first suicide prevention minister.

The Tory MP said: “They need to be vigilant about content they’re hosting.

“We have come to tolerate behaviour online which would not be tolerated in the streets.”

A consultation is currently under way over how to protect internet users.
