THE tragic death of Steve Dymond demonstrates that Mental Health Awareness Week is one of the most important events of the year for men.

Thankfully, in the UK the male suicide rate is at its lowest since 1981 – but it is still the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45.

It’s a dark place that sometimes feels like it has no end. But it does. There is no shame in talking about how you feel to your loved ones or medical professionals. It’s a sign of huge courage to face up to problems, not weakness. We all need help at times.
