JEREMY KYLE GETS A TASTE OF HIS OWN MEDICINE
JEREMY Kyle is facing payback time when he gets a grilling by politicians.
The shamed telly host has been summoned to a committee of MPs
following the apparent suicide of one of his guests.
Steve Dymond, 63, died after reportedly failing a lie detector test on The Jeremy Kyle Show earlier this year.
The ITV programme, which had been on air since 2005, was then axed.
Now Kyle, 53, will be questioned about how guests were treated on the show. Critics claimed it exploited vulnerable people.
Some guests have also been invited to give evidence to the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee. ITV bosses will have to appear as well.
Mr Dymond’s death – along with the suicides of two former Love Island stars
– led to calls for reality shows to provide better care for people taking part.
A committee spokesman said: “Did the Jeremy Kyle Show exercise a duty of care towards its participants?
“What are the wider issues brought up by reality TV and other shows like Love Island?
“We’ll be questioning ITV on Tuesday, June 25. We have also invited Jeremy Kyle to give evidence to our inquiry.”
Last night neither Kyle nor ITV responded to requests for comment.
