BORIS Johnson warned of a Tory wipeout if the party does not deliver Brexit.

The former Foreign Secretary launched his leadership bid by insisting only he could defeat Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour and deliver leaving the EU.

He said: “Now is the time to unite this country and unite this society.

“We cannot begin that until we have delivered on the primary requirement of the people, that they asked us to do.

“After three years and two missed deadlines, we must leave the EU on October 31.” Pledging to get out, deal or no deal, come October 31, Mr Johnson warned “delay means defeat”.

He continued: “Delay means Corbyn. Kick the can and we kick the bucket.”

Mr Johnson went on to warn that no deal could trigger massive problems for the economy.

He added: “I don’t think we will end up with any such thing but it is only responsible to prepare.”

Mr Johnson also launched an attack on Mr Corbyn, labelling the Labour leader “a real threat to our fundamental values and our way of life”.

But France’s most famous newspaper has labelled him a “small-time Trump dedicated to sabotage”.

Le Monde lashed out at the leadership frontrunner, saying electing him as Britain’s PM would be a “calamity for his country and for Europe”.
