Fans will be able to watch the hosts’ first World Cup final in 27 years on their telly, even if they don’t have a Sky Sports subscription.

Eoin Morgan’s team made it to the showpiece event against the Black Caps at Lord’s on Sunday by hammering Australia in the semi-final yesterday.

After skittling out the 2015 world champions for 223, swashbuckling Jason Roy top scored with

85 before captain Morgan hit the winning runs with eight wickets to spare.

The win at Edgbaston means it is the first time since 1992 England have made the final.

Sky announced it would show the match for free so that the biggest audience possible can enjoy the spectacle.

Chief executive Stephen van Rooyen said: “We are proud to be the broadcaster for a home Cricket World Cup, one of the world’s biggest and most exciting sporting events.

“Our aim has always been to celebrate what could be a ‘once in a generation’ moment of a home team in a big final on home soil.”
