Ministers have introduced a series of tough measures to make sure it never affects our pigs.

That means our bacon is safe – for now. But that doesn’t mean the battle is over. Chinese markets are still after our pork, which will continue to push up the prices of bacon in supermarkets.

Everyone should be careful not to bring pork products back from potentially infected foreign markets.

But this is, at least, good news for our farmers.
