Harry’s studios inferno

-

FIRE has ripped through the film studios where the Harry Potter and James Bond films were made.

About 75 firefighters spent more than 15 hours tackling the large blaze at Warner Brothers studios in Leavesden, Herts.

Several appliances were still at the scene late yesterday. No-one was injured.

The film stage, which suffered extensive damage from billowing smoke, was not being used at the time.

All eight Harry Potter films were made there as well as James Bond hit Goldeneye, Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, Fast and Furious, and Mission: Impossible.

Mark Hancock, who lives nearby, said: “My house is only about 200m away.

“The smoke went high into the air, and as I watched, it appeared to get thicker, so much so that we could see the flashing lights of the fire engines reflecting off the thick smoke.”

He added that there was a “taste of smoke in the air”.

The Making of Harry Potter studio tours nearby were unaffected.
