Brits break up for massive getaway

THE great summer holiday getaway will continue this weekend as millions of schoolkids broke up for six weeks.

Roads are expected to get clogged as excited families flock to airports en route to foreign lands or head for the hills closer to home.

More than 5.3million leisure car journeys were predicted yesterday on Frantic Friday as the exodus began.

A further 13.4m trips are forecast this weekend – the most in five years and 4m more than last year, said the RAC.

Wet weather is expected to bring dangerous driving conditions with the M1 and M25 seeing the worst jams, according to data specialist Inrix.
