Turf feud fear as two vans destroyed in fire
ICE-cream war flared up after were torched.
Owner Tony Del Busso believes rival sellers targeted his familyrun business in an ongoing row over pitches.
Up to four ice cream men have been fighting over the same patch in Hinckley, Leics.
The fire spread to his house, destroying his garage, bedroom and part of the roof, causing about £70,000 worth of damage.
Mr Del Busso said: “I think it could be a trade war. It’s destroyed the business.
“It’s on hold now and we are fears two have vans considering our future. This time of year, we are heavily booked for events.
“We can’t do these until we get a replacement van.
“I have heard about ice-cream wars happening but never locally.
“It’s frightening to think we could be at the centre of one.”
Mr Del Busso and his Yvonne have been running wife the business for about eight years. His father ran it before him, setting up in the late 1970s.
Mr Del Busso said: “It’s a longrunning family run business and nothing like this has happened before.”
Leicestershire Police have launched an investigation and urged witnesses to get in touch.
