IT’S CORRIE STREETSKI

SOAP’S POLES APART:

CORONATION Street fans were left baffled after the soap went “full Polish” in Wednesday night’s episode – without any subtitles.

Human traffickers Jan Lozinski and Nikolai Frankowicz had a huge argument in their mother tongue as their crime ring was exposed.

Unlucky in love Eileen Grimshaw found out that her latest boyfriend Jan was involved in bringing illegal immigrants into Britain to work in nail bars.

But viewers didn’t have a clue what was going on.

One confused cobbles fanatic posted on Twitter: “Corrie gone all Polish.”

Another wrote: “We need subtitles for this bit.”

A third said: “Last time I looked Corrie is made in Manchester not Krakow.”

A fourth flummoxed fan tweeted: “I really wish I could speak Polish right now.

“I’m so intrigued as to what they’re saying.”

Insiders at ITV explained to the Daily Star that Polish actors Piotr Baumann, who plays Jan, and Christopher Jaciow, who plays Nikolai, translated the English script themselves.

A source revealed the decision was taken to add authenticity to the brutal exchanges as they wouldn’t want Eileen to know what was being said.

In the heat of the moment, the two actors used artistic licence and chose their own words to make the scene seem as threatening as possible.

A full-blown fight broke out between the two men after Nikolai tried to attack Eileen with a hammer.

She punched his salon owner wife Rachel Healy in an attempt to get away.

As armed cops stormed the nail bar, all four were arrested on suspicion of trafficking.

Eileen groaned: “I can really pick ’em.” But the episode ended with a bang as it was revelled Jan was a police informant.
