£100 on gifts for pooches

A SPICE ZOMBIE SHOCKER

BESOTTED pet owners fork out almost £100 a year on birthday and Christmas presents for their pampered pooches – more than on pals, according to research.

They spend an average of £91.70 on gifts and toys for their dogs and £75.68 for their cats.

This is compared to £92.21 on their parents and only £55 on their closest friends.

Research by Moneyexpert. com found that 96% of pet owners consider their fourlegged friends to be a proper member of their family.

And these pricy gifts are on top of the monthly £236 cost of owning a dog and £121 for a cat. This is made up of such essentials as food, pet insurance, flea and worm treatment, and pet-sitters. And a quarter of the 2,000 pet owners questioned admit to splurging on items such as pet furniture (23%) and technology including trackers and pet-cams (12%).

Unsurprisingly, a quarter of owners say they have needed to cut down on personal spending and go without themselves to pay for their pampered pets.

Although they are happy to splash the cash on gifts, toys and accessories for their animals, nearly half of the owners surveyed do not have pet insurance to cover costly and sometimes unexpected vet treatment.

THIS Spice zombie lolls about barely able to control his body. Shocking footage shows the unnamed man falling backwards after taking the synthetic drug.

It was recorded by Josh Evans, 18, at McDonald’s in Wrexham. Josh said: “He was not with it at all.”
