Klopp comes clean
JURGEN KLOPP has revealed how he tried to solve Liverpool’s earlyseason defensive jitters.
The Reds boss spent the last week working on systems and organisation in a rare spell when the entire squad could get on the training ground.
It comes after an opening to the new campaign in which his defence – which was the meanest in the Premier League last season – has yet to keep a clean sheet.
“People spoke about our defending,” said Klopp. “We work on our defending but not in the way people probably expected. “It’s not about the last line – it’s a common thing, defending in the Premier League doesn’t work if you talk to [each individual player] and tell him, ‘We have to do this and that differently.’
“We worked hard on that, like we always do, but last week we had the time to do it.
“From a defending point of view, it was for sure the best game, against an incredible threat from Arsenal.
“We defended really well, I’m really happy.
“Their goal happened when everybody was in the box, that’s nothing to do with defending.”
