Eye ‘explodes’ after cork strike
FORMER Love Island star Theo Campbell is blind in one eye after he was hit by a flying Champagne cork.
He shared a picture of himself wearing an eye patch with girlfriend Kaz Crossley after his eye was “split in half” in the horror accident.
LOVE Island beefcake Theo Campbell’s right eye was “split in half” by a champagne cork, leaving him blind and in agony.
The reality star was enjoying a break with friends in Ibiza when the cork hit his right eye.
After two emergency operations, doctors on the party isle were unable to save the 28-yearold from losing the sight in his injured eye.
Despite the injury, Theo remained upbeat last night as he updated fans on his condition from his hospital bed. Theo, who starred on Love Island in 2017, said: “Thanks for all the messages and support I’ve got over the last couple days they’re all very much appreciated!
“So yeah basically two eye surgeries later after a really unfortunate accident, I’ve lost all vision in my right eye as it got split in half.
“Who would have thought a champagne cork would be the end of me… But I still have one eye left, looking at the bright side of things.
“If anyone knows where sells cool eye patches let me know.”
Theo, who was once a 400m sprinter, had earlier shared a picture of himself partying alongside Wayne Lineker, brother of telly host Gary, at O Beach.
He was joined at his hospital bed by girlfriend and fellow ex Love Islander Kaz Crossley, who posted an image of her kissing him, writing alongside it: “Got him back out of surgery what are u like babe.”
A source said some people were “screaming” after the cork hit, with one pal describing the damage as “it looked like his eye had exploded”.
Ex Islander Marcel Somerville said: “Mad things happen in life but we roll with the punches.”
