WAYNE HITS THE ROOF

‘Sex lies are wrecking my family’

- By JERRY LAWTON

■ WAYNE Rooney blasted claims he cheated on wife Coleen after he was pictured outside a hotel lift with a mystery brunette.

The footie ace says the rumours are untrue and “damaging”.

WAYNE Rooney has said pictures of him in a hotel lobby with a mystery woman had damaged his marriage to Coleen.

The DC United player yesterday released a public statement denying anything had happened between him and any girl that night.

He said the “whole story was a smear” against him and “not true”.

And the former Manchester United and England captain added: “It is damaging to my family and not something I am prepared to put up with.’’

The marriage crisis erupted after a report the footie ace had got into a hotel lift at 5.30am with a brunette after partying with team-mates on a trip to Vancouver, Canada.

It alleged the striker had downed rum and cokes with other players in a club, where he was seen cosying up to another brunette.

Coleen, 33, is said to have confronted him in the US over the claims and reportedly demanded he return to Britain immediately so they could save their marriage.

Last night, a removal truck was seen outside their home in Bathesda, Maryland.

Wayne, also 33, who is set to become Derby County’s player coach after the MLS season ends in October, lashed out at the media reports, saying the story was “completely untrue”.

He said: “They are using mine and my family’s name to sell papers.

“Nothing happened between me and any girl on that night in Vancouver.

“I did not enter the lift alone with the girl pictured in the hotel foyer.

“The girl pictured in the club was simply one of many who innocently asked for autographs and pictures.”
