A TEENAGER has admitted he murdered schoolgirl Ellie Gould in her own home.

A-Level student Ellie died of multiple stab wounds.

Thomas Griffiths, 17, was arrested after police were called to her family home on May 3.

He appeared in court yesterday plead guilty to the murder charge.

Judge Peter Blair lifted reporting restrictions that had prevented the media from identifying Griffiths.

He said Griffiths had admitted an “extremely grave crime”. He had initially denied having seen Ellie that day.

He ruled it was “appropriate, reasonable and proportionate” for him to lift the order and allow Griffiths’ identity to be made public.

Griffiths, of Derry Hill, Wilts, spoke only to confirm his name and reply “guilty” when the murder charge was read to him.

Speaking after the hearing at Bristol Crown Court, Det Chief Insp Jim Taylor said: “Ellie was murdered as a result of a violent attack.

“Ellie was in her first year of sixth form and was looking forward to the next steps in her education.

“Her parents have told me she was considering a career in police and had been looking attending university.

“The options available to to that the into

Ellie were endless but her hopes and dreams will now sadly never be realised.”

He said officers were able to quickly identify and arrest Griffiths after Ellie was murdered in Calne, Wilts.

Ellie’s family previously paid tribute to the keen horse rider and animal lover as “a kind, caring young lady with a wonderful, fun personality”.

Griffiths, due to be sentenced on November 8, was remanded in custody.

A PHOTOGRAPHER ditched a mobile call to his pal to snap a cloud in the shape of Great Britain floating over his home.

Jason Ellis, 34, said the formation was above Thaxted, Essex, for a while before drifting apart.
