Romero wants repeat of Euro glory

- ■ by DAVID ANDERSON

SERGIO ROMERO insists Manchester United are determined to repeat their 2017 Europa League success.

United are in pot one for today’s draw in Monaco, along with Arsenal and the likes of Sevilla, Porto and Roma, and the keeper says they will not take the competition lightly.

United qualified for the Champions League by beating Ajax 2-0 in the 2017 final in Stockholm and Romero (inset), who played in all nine of the knockout games that season, says they want to win again.

“We have a great team, we have a great manager and everyone at this club wants to do well,” said the Argentinian. “This club, because of its history, deserves to win always. “We, as a team, have to help each other and go the extra mile.” Romero claims they will not underestimate anyone, adding: “It’s always uncertain because of the short and long journeys to different places.

“It will be a challenge to try to repeat the victory again in this competition.”

The draw for the group stages, which start on September 19, is at noon today.
