CARL OUT TO Kazakh KO ace must hit target MARK’S BIG RETURN

- By CHRIS McKENNA by CHRIS McKENNA

CARL FRAMPTON is back in training and ready to become a world champion again in 2020.

The Belfast fighter is putting a nightmare 12 months behind him and will show he is still a world-class fighter over the next year.

Frampton hopes to get back to winning ways in the fight capital of the world when he returns to the ring on November 30 in Las Vegas.

The opponent has not been confirmed yet but it will be someone who will test the Northern Irishman while putting him in contention for world honours again.

Frampton should have been back in the ring by now but he suffered a freak hand injury when a concrete pillar dropped on his hand just days before his planned comeback in August.

It’s almost 10 months since his Christmas cracker with IBF champion Josh Warrington.

He may have lost that night but he showed what a warrior he is and as soon as he told me he wanted to fight on I knew the former superbantamweight and featherweight champion could win ■

another world title. Now he can prove that in 2020 with the help of us, Top Rank and ESPN.

Speaking of future world champions, how good did Daniel Dubois look last week when he dismantled Ebenezer Tetteh in a round?

There have been plenty of performances at the Royal Albert Hall and that was right up there with the best.

It even caught the eye of WBC champion Deontay Wilder, who was speaking highly of Dubois this week.

It’s not often the American gives out praise to other heavyweights, so Dubois must really impress him. Who knows, they could one day share a ring too.

This weekend, women’s undisputed middleweight champ Claressa Shields looks to become a twoweight world titleholder as she takes on Ivana Habazin for the WBC and WBO light-middle belts.

The American is a trailblazer for the sport across the pond and now she is looking to create more history.

The monster common, weighing in at 45lb, was one of many to fall as the autumn weather sparked carp into a feeding frenzy.

GENNADY GOLOVKIN can become a world champion again this weekend – but his main aim is to prove he is still a member of the middleweight elite.

There was a time when the Kazakh knockout artist was the most feared fighter on the planet.

But, despite both fights ending with highly debatable decisions, his draw and loss to Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez have proven he is not invincible.

It is amazing that the judges around the ring on both those nights seemed to have taken away some of the fear factor surrounding the big-hitter.

If Golovkin had got his deserved win in the first Alvarez fight and the draw he possibly earned in the rematch, we may still be talking about the No.1 middleweight in the world.

But, at 37, there is the feeling Golovkin is entering the twilight of his long career.

He will be out to prove such talk is nonsense when he fights Sergiy Derevyanchenko of Ukraine for the vacant IBF title.

His last outing against Steve Rolls was no indication of where he is at considering the level of opposition, but Derevyanchenko will provide a stern test.

Golovkin still wants a fight with Alvarez but Mexican turned it down.

Canelo was dismissive of his bitter enemy, pointing to the fact he currently has no strap around his waist and that he has already faced him twice, so opted to take on WBO light-heavyweight king the net under a 42lb 8oz common with his first cast of the season at Farlows Lake, the fish falling to a Mainline Fyber Wafter.

Not to be outdone, Jack Freeman proved the potential of carp fishing on running water, landing this common (right) from third the Sergey Kovalev instead. But Golovkin needs public demand for the two to share a ring again.

And a stunning show at New York’s famous Madison Square Garden in the early hours of tomorrow will go some way to securing that.

There are other big fights out there for him, with the WBO the River Severn on a DNA Baits SLK boilie! FEMALE anglers are calling for equality on the banks after claims that they have suffered discrimination by fishermen.

Top fly fisher Marina Gibson, who has over 60,000 followers on social media, has made a three-minute video on the BBC website which highlights prejudice in the sport. champion Demetrius Andrade keen for a unification clash.

Golovkin is also certain to be offered a deal to face WBA supermiddleweight king Callum Smith at Anfield next May. It would be an enticing prospect for Golovkin but he really wants Alvarez.

He has kept talk about his Mexican rival to a minimum this week in the Big Apple.

But he knows this weekend is his chance to show he is still up there as the best at middleweight – and a fight Alvarez must take when he returns to the division.
