MOBO award-winning rapper Krept was stabbed backstage at a BBC Radio 1Xtra gig.

The 29-year-old, real name Casyo Johnson, was slashed during the concert at Arena Birmingham, which was abandoned mid-event on Saturday night.

But the grime star, of duo Krept and Konan and a pal of Stormzy, told fans he was “good” after the attack.

The Londoner tweeted: “My people thanks for the messages I’m good, I’ll be back in no time. God was with me. Trust me. Can’t keep a good man down.”

Police said medical assistance was given to the rapper on site and he did not go to hospital.

The sold-out show, which was being streamed on 1Xtra, Radio 1 and BBC iPlayer, was axed immediately after the stabbing.

It was taken off air and the stadium evacuated after rapper AJ Tracey’s performance – before the scheduled 11pm finish.

Fans tweeted support for Krept. AshleyVerse wrote: “Praying for a speedy recovery and more blessings for you.” RhiRhi said: “Rest up and bless up.”

Police are reviewing CCTV and forensic investigations are continuing.

A Radio 1 spokesman said: “Following an isolated serious incident, we have had to stop 1Xtra Live in Birmingham.

“We are co-operating fully with the police to establish what happened.

“We’re sorry to everyone who attended 1Xtra Live in Birmingham for the early finish. The health and safety of everyone involved is always our top priority.”

A spokesman for Arena Birmingham said they could not comment on an ongoing investigation.
