iPad powers back as a mini-laptop!

-

APPLE’S most popular iPad is back with bigger features, more power and a price that may surprise you.

The new £349 tablet has just arrived in UK stores and although the iconic design still looks the same, there are plenty of tasty treats that make it a device worth a place in your bag.

This entry-level gadget now gets more power via the A10 Fusion chip and there’s a slightly bigger 10.2inch Retina Display that makes your binge on Netflix look pin-sharp and packed with detail.

Another nice bonus that Apple has brought to this tablet is full compatibility with its Smart Keyboard case.

Until now, this useful accessory has only been available with the more expensive iPad Pro and iPad Air models, but now you can turn your cheaper tablet into a mini laptop.

And that’s not all as there is also the option to scribble on the screen using the Apple Pencil – another first for this cut-price device.

At under £350, the new iPad certainly good value for money, but it does lack some of the extras that you will find on its more expensive siblings.

There’s no True Tone or antireflective display and you can only buy it with a maximum of 128GB of storage, which won’t suit those who want to keep plenty movies, apps and photos.

The more premium iPad range also include faster A12 processors with the Pro models ditching the Touch ID fingerprint scanner for Face ID technology.

However, those tablets cost hundreds of pounds more than this latest update and that’s what makes this new model seem so appealing.

VERDICT: The iPad remains the best tablet in town and this makes owning one much more affordable.

And don’t think that the cheaper price of the new model means you’ll compromise on features, because it’s more than capable of powering you through your daily digital life.
