Festive pork ‘is a Brexit victim’

CHRISTMAS could be ruined for millions of Brits as a shortage of workers on pork farms could lead to a pigs in blankets crisis.

The uncertaint­y over Brexit has led to a huge drop in migrant workers who provide the extra manpower needed for the busiest time of the year.

And that could lead to bacon, ham and pork being in short supply over the yuletide period.

A spokesman for the British Meat Processors Associatio­n said: “We were struggling for labour anyway and the run-up to Christmas is even tougher.

“No one is saying processors will not be able to fulfil orders, but they’ll tailor them accordingl­y.

“Whether that leaves gap or not, it’s a job know.”
