Fears for Brit girl as cops find backpack LAST SEEN AT PARTY

- ■ by OLIVER PRITCHARD oliver.pritchard@dailystar.co.uk

FEARS for a missing Brit girl were growing after her backpack was found on a Cambodian beach.

Amelia Bambridge, 21, disappeared after a party in a nearby bar with fellow travellers.

Friends said her purse was found in the early hours of Thursday morning in the bar.

Her passport was still at the hostel, where she was due to check out at noon on Saturday.

Amelia’s mum Linda Bambridge, 52, from Worthing, West Sussex, has flown out to the island of Koh Rong to help out with the search.

Urgency

She said: “This is very out of character, she is normally so organised. I don’t know what to think. The police have confirmed she is missing – apparently the embassy is closed until Monday.

“There doesn’t seem to be any urgency. Her friend is still there as they were due to leave the island today, but she hasn’t left because Amelia is missing.”

Search teams have been using a drone to scour the dense jungle and coast of the island just off the mainland.

Police said items in her bag included a purse, medication, her phone, headphones, a phone charger, bank cards, a watch, a nail file and a key ring.

The Lucie Blackman Trust, which helps families of the missing, said Amelia was last seen at a party on Police Beach.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are assisting the family of a British woman who has been reported missing in Cambodia.”
