-

has revealed how she was told she didn’t have what it takes to go solo and how her team almost gave up on her recordbreaking hit Havana.

The Easy songstress admitted even she doubted herself as a soloist and would write her own songs while in Fifth Harmony with the intent of giving them away.

Camila confessed: “I’d show them to people and say, ‘is there any way I can get this recorded by proper musicians?’ I didn’t know it was an option for me to be a solo artist [because] I thought I was going to be in that group for 10 years.”

Camila’s breakout hit

Havana almost never saw the light of day because she was so desperate for it to be perfect. The singer, who attended L’Oreal’s Women of Worth awards, said: “We started off with the chorus and I was like, ‘this chorus is sooo good.’

just couldn’t finish it.” Now having released her second solo LP Romance, Camila has found her confidence, adding: “Sometimes I don’t even want to move because it’s not perfect or because I’m scared – but I don’t let it rule me any more.”

The album is a sweet story of falling in love with boyfriend Shawn Mendes. She said: “I don’t think there’s anything else like it, getting carried away by your emotions.”
