OLE Gunnar Solskjaer has been given a vote of confidence by the Manchester United dressing room.

Several senior stars told club bosses before the 2-1 win over Tottenham that the Norwegian is still the right man for the job.

Solskjaer was feeling the heat ahead of Wednesday’s visit of United’s former boss Jose Mourinho following a woeful run of just four wins from the opening 14 league games.

There were even suggestions he would be sacked if United were beaten by Spurs and champions Manchester City in tomorrow’s derby at the Etihad.

But Solskjaer remains hugely popular with the players and some of them went to senior figures at the club to make it clear he had their full backing.

A club source said: “The squad are still desperate to do well for the manager.

“There is a strong feeling towards him and they wanted to make this clear.”

United produced one of their best displays of the season to beat Spurs and

NEAL MAUPAY stunned managerless Arsenal with a dramatic winner 10 minutes from time to leave the Gunners now nine games without a victory.

With Freddie Ljungberg in temporary charge of his first home match after the sacking of Unai Emery, Adam Webster gave Brighton the lead after 36 minutes.

Alexandre Lacazette brought Arsenal level before Maupay struck.

DAVID MOYES took pole position for an emotional Everton comeback last night after Marco Silva was put out of his misery.

Everton will spend the weekend in negotiations with a potential new manager while exToffees favourite Duncan Ferguson takes temporary charge at home to Chelsea tomorrow.

And former Goodison supremo Moyes is odds on to return, even though the Everton board want time to find the ideal candidate.

make it a miserable return for Mourinho.

Solskjaer has now turned his attention to facing neighbours City.

United go into the game as underdogs, but goalkeeper David De Gea said: “It’s a special game against Manchester City – the derby.

“If we show the same as we did against Spurs, I think we will have chances to win.”

Solskjaer, meanwhile, is still sweating on the fitness of Paul Pogba, who has an ankle problem but has returned to training.

■ EX-UNITED teammates Chris Smalling and Romelu Lukaku have slammed Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport for headlining today’s reunion ‘Black Friday.’

Lukaku’s Inter face a Roma side featuring Smalling tonight.

Lukaku blasted: “Instead of focusing on a battle between two teams, Corriere dello Sport comes up with the most dumbest of headlines I have ever seen in my career. Education is key.”
