Giant TVs ‘ruin the atmosphere’
DINERS have given a hotel eaterie run by Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs a kicking for screening football on giant TVs.
Customers fork out £24 for a steak and £5.50 for a side of chips at The Bull & Bear, which is overseen by celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, right.
But they are finding the eight screens in the restaurant at the ex-footballers’ Stock Exchange Hotel in Manchester hard to swallow. One wrote on TripAdvisor: “I’m still shocked. Why ruin such a beautiful space with large TV screens showing sports channels?” Another said: “Why the massive TVs? Is the restaurant sponsored by Sky?”
Neville, 44, is now a Sky Sports pundit while Giggs, 46, manages Wales. The pair teamed up to create the £40million hotel where suites cost up to £1,750 a night.
Another reviewer said the sight of Neville on every screen in the morning was off-putting. The critic gave the hotel the thumbs-up but added: “Over my breakfast kedgeree Neville’s face filled every screen.”
The 40-room hotel opened last month. Giggs said at the time: “We have brought back to life a forgotten Manchester building.”
