ANDY Whyment reckons that Corrie can save I’m A Celebrity.

If he means “famous people can save I’m A Celebrity”, then he is probably right. Because that has been the problem in recent years. It’s no good having a couple of wellknown faces but the rest we have to Google to find out who they are. Viewers want to see people they know from the telly forced to eat a pig’s testicle. That’s what gets the ratings up. Soap stars are perfect as often fans will have only seen their on-screen persona. It’s always amusing to see what these people are really like. The likes of Simon Gregson and Alan Halsall – who have been familiar faces for 50-odd years between them – would be perfect.

It’s a simple formula – get the big stars and people will tune in.
