THOUSANDS of starlings create a formation resembling a flying saucer in this incredible picture.

About 70,000 birds took to the skies at Potteric Carr Nature Reserve in South Yorkshire.

Wildlife photographer Gerald Robinson said: “To see something like that is mind blowing.”

A NEW year reveller was caught almost six times over the drink-drive limit – crawling along a motorway with no front tyres.

Police pulled over the Renault at 1.50am yesterday believing the car had two flat tyres.

They said it was “no surprise” the driver failed a roadside breath test. He had 196mcg of booze in 100ml of breath – the legal limit is 35mcg.

The motorist was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after the incident on the M66 near Bury, Greater Manchester.

Traffic Police tweeted: “Driver stopped by #traffic on the M66 SB prior to Jct 2 when they noticed a vehicle struggling to drive as it had NO front tyres!!”

Twitter users were stunned by the sky-high breath test. One said: “How could he stand up after blowing that, never mind drive? Well done and thank you to the officers who stopped them.”

Another wrote: “There just aren’t enough words to describe how stupid and reckless some people are.”

Meanwhile, Lincolnshire Police revealed another motorist was stopped for drug-driving just eight hours after getting his licence.

The force’s Sgt Mike Templeman tweeted: “Unbelievable! A DL is a privilege not a right.’’
