Lee’s new year is four-gettable

- BRISTOL CITY 0 BRENTFORD ■ 4 by RICHARD LATHAM

BRISTOL CITY boss Lee Johnson saw his side torn apart before being sent off on a nightmare afternoon.

The Robins have now lost five of their last six games and Johnson was involved in a bust-up with opposite number Thomas Frank after the final whistle.

The City boss faces possible disciplinary action but is hoping cameras will prove his innocence.

“I just hope someone was filming at the right angle,” Johnson said.

“Thomas grabbed my cuff as we were talking and I ripped it away.

“That’s really all that happened. But I was shown a red card and will appeal it providing there is evidence to support me.”

Frank said: “It’s an emotional game and it’s hard to keep anything secret these days.

“But what was said between me and Lee will remain a secret.”

The home side played most of the game a man down after Ashley Williams chopped down Ollie Watkins in the 13th minute having just been booked after a tussle with the striker.

Brentford were already in front at that stage thanks to Bryan Mbeumo’s close-range finish in the sixth minute.

Said Benrahma guided the ball into an empty net after 26 minutes to make it 2-0 after good work from Watkins.

The third and fourth goals came from Watkins to add to the home side’s woes – and left Frank urging his 17-goal top scorer to resist a Premier League move this month.

“I see no reason why Ollie should want to leave during this window,” said Frank.

“Sometimes in life you find yourself working at a special place and that’s what we have at the moment.”
