A GRUESOME sheep killing has sparked fresh fears of a countryside Satanic cult.
The animal was butchered with a knife, leaving its owners devastated.
A post on a social media page, after the incident near the village of Boldre in the New Forest, Hants, said: “Suspicious attack on a sheep in the Parish. It was found slit from neck to crotch with entrails removed.
“The owner and family are devastated by the cruelty to their harmless animal.”
The killing comes just six weeks after suspected
Satanists allegedly carried out a spate of livestock attacks in the national park.
A specialist “pagan police” unit was called in after a photograph emerged of a slaughtered sheep which was covered in pentagrams. Another sheep had been knifed to death and three cows were found stabbed just a few miles away.
Sgt Andy Pardy, of the Police Pagan Association, said the pentagram was “a very emotive symbol and it always creates a furore”.
But he added: “It doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s connected to pagans.”
