Brendan boys on a fun run

BRENDAN RODGERS is hoping his Glee Club can keep Leicester firing on all fronts.

The Foxes boss says his happy dressing room is one of the reasons his side are one of the season’s big talking points.

They are second in the Premier League and this evening will try to beat Championship visitors Wigan, the shock winners in 2013, to progress in the FA Cup before Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg clash with Aston Villa.

Rodgers said: “There’s a great energy in our team and a great happiness among them. We have to improve ourselves and that’s something we are enjoying doing.

“There’s no team that can succeed without having a strong spirit and this group are brilliant.

“They want to be the best team that they can be and they want to play like a big team.

“So when they come in to work, part of the enjoyment of being a good team is working hard and enjoying it and feeling like you can play like a big team.

“I think what we’re creating is something that is sustainable over a number of years and it’s my job to lead that hunger and fight for continual improvement.

“The key to managing a player is understanding their needs and what they want to achieve and help organise a plan for them to be the very best they can be.

“I’ve always enjoyed every squad I’ve worked with.

“My Celtic team were an amazing bunch of guys – they loved going in every single day.

“At Swansea and at Liverpool – all different mentalities and cultures – but I’ve always tried to create that spirit within teams because ultimately it’s about coming in and enjoying your work.”
