TYSON SWEET WITH SUGAR

- ■

from CHRIS McKENNA in Las Vegas TYSON FURY believes he has made the best decision of his career by bringing in Emanuel Steward’s nephew to train him for his rematch with Deontay Wilder.

The Gypsy King appointed SugarHill Steward to replace Ben Davison.

Fury’s parting with Davison (inset, top) came as a shock because the young trainer had been hailed for guiding the British heavyweight back to the top following three years out of the ring.

But he turned to Steward (inset, bottom) and distant cousin Andy Lee to rekindle his romance with the Kronk Gym in Detroit, which he visited once for a three-week training stint in 2010.

Fury said: “Having SugarHill in the corner is a fantastic asset.

“Before I came over here to start this training camp, I was very unsure how this would go because obviously me and my long-term trainer were not training together anymore.

“He was a new trainer, someone I hadn’t worked with for 10 years, so it was all up in the air.

“Andy was coming in, SugarHill was coming in, so it was all unknown to me.

“I wasn’t sure how it would all pan out, but I can tell you now, it’s the best decision I ever made.

“I’m glad I made it when I did because we’re going to see something different on Saturday night.”

Fury did admit he was nervous about the change just before he flew out to Las Vegas for his training camp 10 weeks ago but he was soon put at ease.

The unbeaten former world champion added: “The concerns went straight away. It’s just how comfortable we are and how we gelled.

“I believe in love at first sight. When I first met my wife when we were kids, I knew I was going to marry her straight away. So whoever says you can’t have chemistry in a short time is full of s**t.”
