William Hill Scottish Cup 5th round replay

MANCHESTER CITY will turn to Leroy Sane to help fill a financial hole in the wake of their European ban.

City are set to miss out on around £140m in lost revenue after being banned from the Champions League for two seasons by UEFA.

The punishment comes after City were found guilty of serious breaches of Financial Fair Play rules – and has left Etihad bosses reeling.

The club will launch an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

But with the outcome far from certain, despite City’s confidence they can get the ban overturned, chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak will now sanction the sale of Sane to Bayern Munich this summer to help offset the club’s lack of earnings.

City boss Pep Guardiola has been desperate to keep Sane, even though the German international has refused to sign a new and improved deal.

But Guardiola will be forced to admit defeat in his battle to hang on to the winger, with Al-Mubarak confident of raising around £80m for the 24-year-old.

Bayern tried to sign Sane last summer but failed to agree a deal when City demanded £140m and the player then got injured.

But the German giants have retained a strong interest in Sane and know a cheaper deal can be struck because he has spent the whole season on the sidelines.

He will also enter the final 12 months of his current deal in June.

Sane

August has after been out damaging since knee ligaments in the Community Shield against Liverpool.

But he has stepped up his recovery in recent weeks and could return to the squad for tonight’s rearranged home clash with West Ham.

His return to action could prove to be a timely boost for both himself and Guardiola’s side.

City face Leicester on Saturday without Raheem Sterling due to a hamstring injury.

But he is targeting a return to action against Real Madrid in the Champions League next week.

Sane is desperate to be involved again so he can prove he is over his injury and wants as long as possible to recapture his form ahead of a return to the Bundesliga.

He is also desperate to earn a place in Joachim Low’s German squad for Euro 2020 this summer.

DAVID MOYES was left seething by West Ham’s inadequate scouting system.

The Scot was stunned after discovering vital information and data on potential transfer targets had disappeared when Manuel Pellegrini and his staff were sacked in December.

It meant Moyes had to resort to watching video clips of players on internet sites as he desperately scoured the market for new signings last month.

He was fuming when he found out Pellegrini, along with director of football Mario Husillos and

CROSS the chief scout, Pellegrini’s son Juan, had been allowed to take all the club’s scouting data.

West Ham go to Manchester City tonight with supporters still attacking the regime of owners David Gold and David Sullivan.

Asked for his message for the fans, Moyes said: “Stick with the team. Your support is going to be vital. At home especially I think you can play your part.

“We have had very few decisions since we have been here that have gone for us and the crowd can influence that.”
